Following the oath-taking ceremony, the leaders of the three branches of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA)—the executive, legislative, and judicial—posed together for an official photograph, symbolizing the continued functioning of Tibet’s democratic institutions in exile. The first session of the 18th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile (TPiE) is scheduled to convene on June 2 and 3. During the session, Sikyong Penpa Tsering is expected to nominate candidates for the 17th Kashag (Cabinet) for parliamentary consideration and approval. Penpa Tsering earlier said that he hopes to appoint more ministers during his second term. During his previous term, Penpa Tsering’s Kashag consisted of three ministers, all of whom were women.
