A lifelong advocate for Tibetan independence (Rangzen), Lhasang Tsering joined the armed guerrilla resistance against Chinese rule in Mustang, Nepal. He later served as the President of the Tibetan Youth Congress and co-founded the Amnye Machen Institute. He was a recent recipient of the Tibet Medal, a historic honor awarded to veteran freedom fighters for their foundational sacrifices to the national cause.
