Geneva, 7 September 2026 : The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk expressed deep concern over the deteriorating human rights situation in Tibet, particularly restrictions affecting the Tibetan people’s freedom of religion.
Addressing the opening of the 63rd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, the High Commissioner highlighted a range of pressing global human rights concerns, including armed conflicts, restrictions on civic space, discrimination, and violations affecting vulnerable and minority communities.
