The campaign began in Dharamsala with a 24-hour chain hunger strike led by the first batch of eight former TYC Central Executive Committee members. Participants included former TYC President and Member of Parliament Gonpo Dhondup, former Vice President and Chairman of the Central Tibetan Administration's Public Service Commission Karma Yeshi, and former Vice Chairman and current Chief Election Commissioner Lobsang Yeshi. Following the completion of the first 24-hour fast by the former leaders, the hunger strike will continue with the current TYC leadership, followed by local youth and other supporters, each taking turns in successive 24-hour shifts. Meanwhile, TYC has also announced that an unto death hunger strike, will be held in New Delhi as part of the protest campaign.
