Tibetan Flag Snatched During Protest Near Xi Motorcade, Video Appears to Show
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Footage released by Students for a Free Tibet appears to show a protester being struck and a Tibetan national flag being snatched during a demonstration by 12 activists on a bridge in Washington, D.C., as Chinese President Xi Jinping’s motorcade approached. Students for a Free Tibet says the activists were protesting peacefully after Xi arrived in the U.S. capital. According to the group, people it describes as Xi supporters surrounded and harassed the protesters while they demonstrated on the bridge. The footage appears to capture part of the confrontation, including a person taking hold of the Tibetan flag and physical contact with a protester.
