Dharamshala: In a condolence letter dated 22 May 2026, Sikyong Penpa Tsering conveyed his heartfelt condolences on the passing of former U.S. Congressman Barney Frank, a steadfast ally and true champion of the Tibetan people. He passed away at the age of 86 in Maine, United States.
In a condolence letter addressed to Jim Ready, spouse of the late Congressman Barney Frank, Sikyong wrote, “We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of your spouse, Congressman Barney Frank. On behalf of the Central Tibetan Administration and the Tibetan people, I extend our heartfelt condolences to you and your loved ones.”
