Washington, D.C.: Sikyong Penpa Tsering engaged in several strategic meetings on Tibet with U.S. government officials across key legislative and executive branches this week. The primary focus of Sikyong’s visit, after taking oath of his second term in the presence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama on 27 May, was on the implementation of existing US’s laws on Tibet related matters and the new political developments in the light of enactment of a Chinese new law on ethnic unity and progress, that codifies the ongoing forced assimilationist policies aimed at erasing the very identity of the Tibetan people and other nationalities in the PRC.
