May his soul Rest in Peace... Here is the transcript: I don't have much to say. The Chinese Communist Party's policies toward Tibet are working to erase the Tibetan people entirely. There is nothing to ask of Tibetans living inside Tibet. The fact that they continue working to preserve and develop their own Tibetan language, religion, and culture under such conditions is truly remarkable. So, beyond expressing deep gratitude to them, there is nothing else to ask. However, I do have a few thoughts to share with Tibetans living in exile. In the struggle of a people, nothing will be gained through passivity or doing nothing. Therefore, I want to say that those of us in exile need to work harder and push more strongly. Our democracy was given to us by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the noble Avalokiteshvara - an incomparable act of kindness. It cost us nothing, not people and not money. Even as he was granting us this democracy, we kept pushing it back, saying "we don't need it." But His Holiness established a proper democracy anyway. He didn't give it to us so we could fight among ourselves - he gave it so the Tibetan people and the Tibetan nation could move forward and grow. Here's what His Holiness said in particular: for Tibetans living abroad in America, Europe, and elsewhere, if each person just gets a house and a car and thinks "everything's fine now" and sits back, that is a betrayal of the cause. He told us, "Every one of you is a voice for the Tibetan people." So we have to work for the Tibetan people. We have to labor hard for them - that is what he instructed. And beyond that, only His Holiness can truly speak this way, because he is a Buddha who teaches that everyone, regardless of ethnicity or religion, must unite as one in harmony. But we are not Buddhas - we're ordinary people. And when it comes to fighting among ourselves, we're remarkably good at it, aren't we? From today onward, what I am saying is this: we must remember that the Chinese Communist Party has struck all three regions of Tibet - Kham, Amdo, and Ü-Tsang - without distinction. We are all Tibetans. We must work for Tibet as a nation and as a people. Right now, inside Tibet, there are no human rights. There is no freedom of speech. There is no freedom to keep a photo of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. People can only speak of having no freedoms. The reason those freedoms don't exist is that Tibet lost its independence. Therefore, from today, all of us - the Tibetan government, the Parliament, every single Tibetan person - must unite as one and work for Tibet as a nation and people. Unity is of paramount importance. Therefore, from now on, Tibetans in exile must stop quarreling over regions and religion, and instead hold onto the identity of being Tibetan. We are not without a homeland. Some say we have no independence, but it is not that independence doesn't exist; it is that we have lost it. And we must regain it. I join my palms together and appeal to all those in exile: please unite and work for Tibetan independence. There is one more thing I want to say. If today I carry out this certain drastic act, I don't want it to be the reason people stop celebrating His Holiness the Dalai Lama's upcoming birthday. Just as before, our contemporary songs, dances, and other cultural preservation activities are of great benefit - for health, for introducing culture to the youth, and more. So please do not let my act become a reason to cancel or stop these things. Please continue celebrating His Holiness the Dalai Lama's birthday even more strongly and beautifully - make it grand, and perform songs and dances. Please don't stop those things on account of mourning for me. There is no need to grieve. What should you do? While singing and dancing, with the awareness that you are Tibetan, think about what you can do for the Tibetan people and nation. That is what truly matters. So I appeal to all of you - please give this greater effort. As for why I am carrying out this certain drastic act, please know that it is not because I lack food or clothing or am suffering - I am doing it for the sake of Tibet as a nation. I am doing this for Tibet, and whatever culture Tibet has, we must keep it alive. In the exile community, there is often a tendency to mourn, but there is no need to mourn. If, for some reason, you inevitably feel grief, what should you do? Please continue the hope and the appeals I am making. Continue them. What must we do? First, let us look at the root of our lack - it comes from the loss of independence, from having no freedom. That is the main cause of everything we lack. If independence is achieved, everything will be restored. Therefore, what we need is independence. Everyone must work hard for this. I ask everyone: please work hard together.
