MEP Dainius Žalimas's message: 'China ENFORCES a law that threatens Tibetan identity'
If China 𝐄𝐍𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐂𝐄𝐒 a 𝐥𝐚𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐓𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐲, it must have 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐒𝐄𝐐𝐔𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄𝐒 for EU-China relations.
That was 𝐌𝐄𝐏 𝐃𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐮𝐬 Ž𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐬’𝐬 message in a video statement to the Tibet Conference held at Latvia’s parliament, the Saeima, on June 3, 2026.
Žalimas urged participants to move beyond discussion. He called on Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia to 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐌𝐍 𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐀’𝐬 𝑬𝒕𝒉𝒏𝒊𝒄 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝑳𝒂𝒘 and backed the appointment of an 𝐄𝐔 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐭.
The demand is clear: turn concern for Tibet into European policy.
