Members of 18th Tibetan parliament sworn in, Dolma Tsering elected first female speaker

DHARAMSHALA, May 31: The members of the 18th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile (TPiE) were formally sworn into office on Sunday during a ceremony held at the Parliament Hall in Dharamshala, the seat of the Tibetan Government in Exile. The newly elected parliamentarians took their oath before Interim Speaker Dawa Tsering.

Prior to the swearing-in ceremony, Chief Justice Commissioner Yeshi Wangmo of the Tibetan Supreme Justice Commission (TSJC), the apex judicial body of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), administered the oath of office to Interim Speaker Dawa Tsering who is one of the senior most lawmaker in the house.
