The final rites and procession, organized by the Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC), took place on Monday in Dharamshala. In a rare gesture of national respect, the covering of his body with the flag was formally approved by the Kashag, the cabinet of the Central Tibetan Administration. The honor is reserved for individuals recognized for exceptional sacrifices to the Tibetan national cause. Lhasang Tsering, a fiercely uncompromising advocate for Tibet independence (Rangzen), passed away on Thursday, June 11, at the age of 74.
