'History made on Mount Everest': ITBP's all-woman expedition successful summit makes India proud

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP) has completed its first-ever All-Women International Expedition successfully to Mt Everest.

With the first summit at 6:52 am on May 21, a 14-memeber team, including 11 women climbers, and 3 technical and support members, reached the top, marking a historic milestone in the mountaineering legacy.

The women climbers summited the Everest via the South Col route from the Nepal side, as per the ITBP.

They climbed battling extreme weather conditions, low oxygen levels and difficult ice-wall sections in the 'Death Zone' above 8,000 metres, showing immense courage and teamwork, according to the ITBP.
