More than three decades have passed since then, yet the memories of his homeland and the longing to reunite with his family have never faded. Like thousands of Tibetans who fled their homeland, he has spent much of his life carrying the emotional weight of separation, displacement, and the uncertainty that comes with living as a refugee. Years after rebuilding his life in exile, Tsering Norbu experienced a life-changing incident that left him paralyzed from the waist down. Despite the physical challenges he now faces, he continues to live with remarkable resilience and courage, advocating for greater understanding and inclusion of people with disabilities within the Tibetan community. In this interview, Tsering Norbu reflects on the pain of leaving Tibet as a child, the sacrifices his family made for his future, the challenges of living in exile, and his journey of adapting to life with a disability. His story is deeply personal, yet it echoes the experiences of countless Tibetans who have been separated from their loved ones for decades. Many who fled Tibet as children have never had the chance to see their parents or return to the place they once called home.
