Chinese authorities have resumed demolitions at Larung Gar Buddhist Institute, the world’s largest Tibetan Buddhist institute, targeting approximately 1,060 monastic quarters belonging to Tibetan Buddhist monks and nuns, according to information received by the Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (TCHRD). The demolitions reportedly began on 13 July and are being carried out during the night.
According to the International Campaign for Tibet (ICT), at least six monastic quarters had been demolished as of 15 July, while Chinese authorities have earmarked approximately 1,060 residences for demolition.
