A Wisdom for the World
A Wisdom for the World is part of the Compassion Revolution documentary film series by Tibet TV, Department of Information and International Relations, Central Tibetan Administration produced in honor of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday and the Year of Compassion celebration.
The film explores the visionary Dalai Lama Chairs for Nalanda Studies—an academic initiative to revive ancient Indian Buddhist wisdom within modern higher education. Launched at Goa University in December 2019, these chairs have since been established at universities across India.
Through insights from leading scholars and administrators, the film highlights how the Nalanda tradition—centered on compassion, interdependence, and analytical inquiry—addresses urgent global issues such as mental health, environmental degradation, and social fragmentation.
Showcasing the work of the Foundation for Universal Responsibility, the documentary reveals how the Dalai Lama Chairs foster dialogue between Eastern and Western thought. More than academic posts, these chairs represent a bold vision of education that combines intellectual depth with emotional intelligence—preparing students not just for careers, but for lives of meaningful service.
